About the market > Import and Export
The Nordic countries have interconnectors to Germany, Poland,
Estonia, Russia and the Netherlands. The interconnectors make it
possible to transfer power from areas with power surplus and low
prices to areas with power deficit and higher prices.
Over the last 10 – 15 years there has been a strong
consumption growth in the Nord Pool area. However, new
production capacity has not been developed at the same pace, and
the Nord Pool area has become a net importer of electricity.
Most of the power deficit has been covered by import from Russia.
